About

My name is Richie and although I’m an Aussie I live and work in Tokyo, Japan. My two passions outside work are playing music and dabbling with various websites. I play in a rock band called Alimo – http://www.ali-mo.com and an originals band called Pale Brood – http://www.thepalebrood.com.

I discovered wordpress a year or so ago and have been creating various sites since I found out how easy it was for non-technical people like myself to create them. I started putting together what I thought were the most interesting and useful tips/hints for using wordpress, based on my perspective as a relative novice. I sometimes get annoyed at the way things are overcomplicated for novices like myself and how relatively simple things are not explained in a clear and understandable way in layman terms. My future goal for this site is to make a site which provides easily understandable tips and a site which is easy to navigate around.

I have tried various free themes but none of them had quite enough flexibility for me. Recently I discovered the theme I’m currently from Solostream and I really like the way you can customize it without having to touch any code. I’m still learning but hopefully this site will look pretty good in a little while.

Recently I have been reading too many e-books on how to make money online and become a millionaire overnight etc… unfortunately none of them have made me much money yet. But after all my reading of good and bad e-books, I do believe I have a fair idea about what works and what doesn’t. The problem is finding the time to implement these ideas and actually try and make some money so I can quit my day job and lead a life of leisure and make music all day in my future dream studio. Maybe one day…

So far, what I have learnt is that continuous original content, couple with an easy to understand site layout is crucial. Submitting to article sites definitely works and I have done this a little bit on other sites and I definitely saw some increase in traffic. I hope to do this alot more. I found a program called Article Post Robot which I find easy to use and really does save you a lot of time – although the layout of their interface could use some work.

I am currently experimenting with a product called Autoblogged, which is pretty cool. It allows you to automatically pull in rss feeds from various sources based on keyword searches etc. and use them as blogs.

In my spare time I will keep experimenting in my endeavour to retire while I still have some of my youth left.. I’ll let you know how I get on.
